Allow me to tell you a little about my Mary Kay journey. I have been with this fabulous company since June of 1984. Prior to Mary Kay I worked in the dental field for 10 years. I was 7 ½ months pregnant with my first daughter when I signed my agreement…and little did I know how much Mary Kay would change my life…for the better.
I truly joined to get my products at a 50% discount. I did not have the expectations of building this business. As a matter of fact, I joined with the goal to quit after three months- You see I knew I wasn’t going to enjoy working with women and selling cosmetics. I thought I’d buy my products at cost, make $50 a week for a couple of months and then disappear. But, I learned that this opportunity was so much more than “selling cosmetics”! It is a company with high ethical standards, a strong priority of Faith, Family and Career and a positive atmosphere. It truly does enrich the lives of women - as Mary Kay intended - when she started the company on September 13th, 1963. I have made it my life mission to pass on her legacy and her dream by continuing to mentor women like you! I became a single mom with two young daughters, Candace (5) and Ashley (4). I have been able to raise them with my Mary Kay income because of the flexibility and financial opportunity that Mary Kay provides. The support, education and mentors that have been in my life because of this company have allowed me to become the person I am today. Both my daughters have since joined the company. What an awesome feeling to be able to pass it on to the people you love the most. I also have a stepson Richard and two great sons –in–laws and 4 handsome grandsons, Nicholas, Lucas, John and Anthony as well as a beautiful granddaughter, Emma Grace. I am married, to my wonderful and supportive husband John. I have an incredible business with 10 first line offspring directors and one second line who also lead others along the path of success. Our unit has had over $1,000,000 in sales in one year!! I love the flexibility this career provides. Mary Kay has also provided me with free cars since 1987, insurance included. I presently drive the 2018 PINK Cadillac SRX! I am excited for YOU! I care about your future and I am committed to helping you to succeed. You will find that ACTIVITY will provide your greatest learning experiences along with our unit meetings and workshops, or meetings in YOUR area if you are not local to me. You can always count on finding me at these important events, and I will match my time with your efforts. Be patient with yourself and take it one step at a time. We’ll move at YOUR pace, so get ready, get set, and may all your dreams become a reality!! I believe in you, Donna Clark - Driscoll |

Director Lisa Baker
Fabulous Baker Girls |
Thank your for taking the time to read about my career and highlights!
I've been building my business with Mary Kay for over 20 years. Hard to believe that much time has passed! I am married to Mike, who started this journey with me and has been extremely supportive since day 1. We have 2 children, Michael and Jaclyn, who were 4 and 7 when we started. They are now grown and on their own. Michael works as a master comptroller for Showtime and will be marrying Nicole in June 2014. Jaci works in product development for Ann Taylor and is a Mary Kay consultant on a part-time basis right now. I could not be more proud of them both! When I started Mary Kay, Mike and I were working 4 jobs between the two of us. ( I know busy!) I am a licensed cosmetologist, Mike is a retired firefighter, he had a flexible part-time job at that time, and I started Mary Kay. You can only imagine the time management and juggling. I'm so grateful I didn't second guess or think I was too busy. God has always truly paved our way and brought everything I needed and prayed for into my life at exactly the right time. Reflecting back it was short term sacrifice for long term gain. I've learned you can pay on the front end or pay on the back end.....the front end is always easier. You'll never be any younger than you are today. After coordinating both businesses for 10 months I not only had a chance to see Mary Kay from the inside, but was exposed to the culture, support, and camaraderie. I saw first hand the opportunity for unlimited growth and financial independence that comes from being an independent contractor and your own boss. I loved Mary Kay's philosophy that you be "insured an opportunity that is equal to your ambition and ability". It allows you to be genuinely proud of your own accomplishments. I then laid down my hairdressing business and have never looked back. Even if Mary Kay was not right for me I knew that I would be led to something new and different. Once that door closed, I knew going backwards was not an option for me. I was done with the experience and what I called my start-up career (many of us have them) knowing it had been the preparation for something bigger on my journey of personal growth. From the beginning I felt Mary Kay was easy.......because "I thought" it was. They say "What you think about you bring about", and there is truth in that. My thought was: "I ask you for your opinion of the products"- check "We have fun at a facial/class where I get to play with make-up"-check "You tell me what you like and want"-done! Easy....... not as in little or no effort. Yes, you have to apply time and effort....its called work and that’s why I get paid so well. I also attended all company events faithfully and have always seen the value in continuing to educate myself. A must; school is never out for the pro no matter how many years your here. Tidbit of advice....the event, meeting, conference, retreat, or seminar you think you can afford to miss is probably the one you needed most. One of the 2 things I've enjoyed most is the flexibility of being my own boss. I've never missed anything important where my husband, kids or family members were concerned. And like any other career I've worked thru life's joys, pains, illnesses, accidents, and celebrations. Now I've had the opportunity to travel to Florida these past few years over the winter months and develop in other areas besides NY. Secondly is the personal growth. As I reflect so far I'm most grateful for the women who have coached, mentored, believed in me and who have celebrated all my successes with me. It has not only benefited me but my family as well. I couldn't put a price tag on my personal growth and the development of my faith and walk with The Lord. For those that are in Mary Kay reading this I will share a few of my career highlights. For those not in Mary Kay these are not only accolades that I am proud of but are reflective of the awesome unit and team that makes me look so good. "The Fabulous Baker Girls!" -I've been a star consultant 90 quarters (every quarter since joining the company) -Been in the National Court of Sales 9 times -National Sharing Court 1 time where I had the honor of being a 2nd Runner-Up in the Ruby division. -We've earned the use of 12 company cars, 8 of them being the fluffy pink Cadillac! -Our unit has been honored in the Circle of Achievement 11 times and the Prestigious 1/2 Million dollar Circle 4 times our highest being $550.000.00 unit club. -A double star trophy achiever 7 times -And a monthly Miss Go-Give recipient in '95, a nomination given to me by my sister consultants and directors. I look forward to continuing to celebrate the successes on our career path with my unit members as they grow into Leadership positions and Directorship in our Future National Area. In closing, some advice that was given to me by my 1st National Sales Director MaryJane Schiavone, who has since gone home to be with The Lord: Enjoy the journey and climb up the pink Ladder of Success. Always remember it is a journey, not a destination. This ladder has no wrung that says "you've arrived". Enjoy and celebrate each success, and learn quickly from any stumbles or disappointments. They are your learning curve. Whenever you get to the end of your rope, just tie a knot and hang on. The difference between success and failure is the ability to hang in there just 5 more minutes. There is no failure in Mary Kay! Have a great day! Lisa Baker |
Director Cindy Barrow
Barrow's Believers |
My name is Cindy Barrow. I am happily married to the infamous.......Horace Barrow! Everyone loves Horace!! We have two beautiful children, Kayla and Sean. Prior to starting my Mary Kay business, I was in the banking industry working full time and not loving the hours. During that time was when I first heard of MARY KAY and went to my very first MARY KAY party. My sister was the hostess and I went kicking and screaming 3 houses down the block!!
Fast forward 7 years later......I was a MARY KAY user and abuser, the ONLY one from that party that consistently stuck with the product line, had been asked multiple times to attend an event and hosted many parties for my consultant. When I became sick and tired of the corporate world and decided to LISTEN to what MARY KAY had to offer, did I make the best decision in my life. At the very first event I attended.......I signed my agreement!! Scared out of my mind, I went home and panicked a bit, but I trusted my recruiter and was ready for change!! My desire for something better and new was greater than my fear of change!!! That was November of 2004, Kayla was 2 years old, Sean was 2 months old and my journey was just beginning. I was a very, very part time consultant. Little did I know GOD had a plan. In two short years, I would become a single Mom for three years and MARY KAY would become my full time career. I would earn my first career car, become a Sales Director in 2010 of "Barrow's Believers", earn the Queens Court of Sales the last 3 years, earning 2 diamond rings, an iPad and be on target again this year! Oh, and that Equinox by June 30th! As an individual, I have changed tremendously!! Shy no more.......Afraid of change......Never! I am goal oriented, a dreamer, and the life of the party! My children have caught all the things MARY KAY has taught me ....... Priceless!! Hey, I even met Horace thru my business!! Life is goooooood in MARY KAY! GOD has a plan for us all and we just need to be faithful and allow MARY KAY to be the vehicle that gets us all there!!! |
Director Grace Hackett
Woman of Grace |
My name is Grace Hackett. I joined Mary Kay in September 2002. I’m the proud Sales Director of the amazing Women of Grace Unit. I am married to my wonderful husband Pat since 1990, and I have two beautiful daughters, Amanda and Gina.
Prior to Mary Kay I worked for a consulting firm in NYC for 18 years. While my salary and benefits were amazing, I was never appreciated. There was only reprimand, not recognition. Praise was non-existent. I knew that I was meant for more than what I was settling for. After 9/11, I decided to reevaluate my life, and I took a very generous severance package and unemployment benefits and decided to stay home and be mom for a while. I loved being home but I needed something more to do so I became a very active volunteer at my daughters’ school where I used many of my old job skills to help out. While I truly enjoyed being part of various volunteer organizations, I realized that I had stopped taking care of myself. I called a friend who was selling Mary Kay to purchase a few items. She invited me to a meeting to try the products. Not only did I fall in love with the product, but I saw positive, uplifting women who were not only making money but also making a difference in the lives of others. I joined to make some friends and to earn some extra spending money until I got “a real job.” Well this IS my real job. Mary Kay pays my mortgage! It will also pay for college educations so that my daughters will graduate without debt. I plan on giving them the weddings of their dreams. I will retire my husband early. All of this is because of my Mary Kay business. I have earned 3 free cars. I have been a Star Consultant 44 times, earning terrific prizes. I have been on the Queens Court of Personal Sales 5 times earning 4 beautiful diamond and gemstone rings and an iPad. While I love the recognition, I love mentoring women more. To see others succeed is pure joy. My ultimate goal is to be a National Sales Director and to know I have left a legacy of leaders, women who will make a positive impact on the world. Those women include my two daughters. This business is showing them that anything is possible if you are willing to work with persistence and passion. Don’t settle for whatever life throws at you. Create the life of your dreams. |
